Usually we don't like when something is out of our control. When our computer is busy with something we did not ask for. When our device's battery and network bandwidth is consumed by tasks we did not run. When it sends something about our activity and we don't know what it is.
KS DB Merge Tools team don't like such things as well. Our desktop applications do not send to us any information in the background. This page lists really few cases when they try to send something to us or to go to the web. All these cases are under your control:
It happens when you choose 'Activate the free AccdbMerge Standard trial' in the Activation dialog on the first application run, or if you click 'Get a Standard trial' in the License info dialog. Application makes a web request to our trial activation server. This request contains only two items specific for your environment:
If you want to avoid this web request or if this request fails by any reason and you still want to retrieve a trial: this can be done by contacting us by email.
It happens on each application start if you have 'Check for updates' enabled. Application makes a web request to our web site. If there is a new version available, it opens What's new tab with information about that update. This request contains the following items specific for your environment:
Currently we don't use this information, but in the future we plan to use it to gather basic statistics about these factors.
If you want to avoid this web request: just disable check for updates. It can be done in the Activation dialog on the first application run, or later in thе License info dialog. Information about new application versions can be retrieved from our What's New page.
It happens if you click 'Send error report and close' in the Unknown error dialog. This provides a detailed description of what is going to be sent, and the error log can be reviewed before sending.
If you want to avoid this web request: close this dialog using 'Close w/o report' or 'Close app'. But we kindly ask you to provide such reports if possible.
It happens if you type F1 or if you click the 'Online help' toolbar button. Application just asks your system to open a specific web page address for the current tab or dialog. This request has no specific information about your environment, it is just a URL.
If you want to avoid this web request: application can be configured to use help pages located on your computer, please contact support if you're a Standard/Trial user. Or just use this online help from your web browser.
